The finest Islamic embroidery can still be seen today in the shroud that covers the kaabah.
Popular embroidery is made by three main means: alkoraar, alnaqdah and altali.
- Alkoraar is a hand-made stripe and is used as clothes accessory to adorn the hems of clothes.
- Alnaqdah is a type of dress ornament made of palm leaves to the cloth which is embroidered with tali threads in geometrical shapes that are pressed with the hands to fix the dress ornament in place.
- Altali are stripes made of metal threads call khows set as ornaments in geometrical shape, and placed on the thawb or the fringes of the sirwaal.
