Qatar Japan Photography contest

The Qatar Japan 2012 team at Qatar Museums Authority (QMA) in collaboration with Salam Studios & Stores, and Nikon announces the launch of a photography competition to coincide with the year-long series of cultural, sporting, and business events planned to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Qatar and Japan. The participants in the competitions should have their entries submitted before 21 June, 2012.

The aim of the competition - titled “Qatar Through the Eyes of Its People” and sponsored by Salam Studios & Stores and Nikon - is to showcase various aspects of Qatar, including the development made in the country, the natural side of Qatar, the symbols of its identity, as well as its people and traditions. As the title implies, the competition’s goal is to showcase different aspects of life in Qatar to the Japanese audience through the lenses of the talented photographers in Qatar.

This photography competition is open for Qataris only and the top 4 participants will win one of four brand new Nikon DSLR cameras, including a D7000 W/18-105MM for the first place winner. In addition, the 10 shortlisted photos will be displayed in Tokyo, Japan, during “Ferjaan: Qatar in Tokyo” week. It is one of the projects handled by Qatar Japan 2012 to support the artists in Qatar.

Photographers are invited to compete. They can participate with a maximum of 2 entries. The entries have to be of high quality as they will be printed on a canvas.  Further information and entry specifications details are available at the Qatar-Japan 2012 website, www.qatarjapan2012.com. Deadline for submission is 21st June, 2012.
