QMA, Qtel join hands to mark ‘Sports Day’
QMA and Qtel are jointly organizing a day of “sporting surprises” for employees and members of the public in support of Qatar National Sports Day on February 14.
The second Tuesday of every February has been declared a national holiday to encourage activity and better public health, according to a decree issued by HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
As part of their wider corporate social responsibility policies, QMA and Qtel will work together that day to provide full facilities for their employees and the community to engage in a wide range of sporting activities at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park.
This partnership reflects QMA's full support for the community, bringing a diverse and engaging selection of sporting activity to the MIA Park. People of all ages are encouraged to visit the park on February 14 to enjoy participating and watching a wide range of sports.
Team and individual sport events are being organized on the MIA Park for the event, which will take place from 9am to 7pm and is free-of-charge for entry.
Equipment and match space are being provided by QMA and Qtel, and participants are encouraged to wear sportswear. Sports being organized include the traditional ones – such as running and cycling – and more contemporary activities, such as “Human Foosball” and Frisbee.
QMA and Qtel employees will be taking part, and the two organizations have invited the public to join in, or come as spectators and enjoy the healthy, outdoor atmosphere of the MIA Park, which is accessible from the Doha Corniche.
