Mathaf Summer program

This July, Mathaf offers kids a wide range of activities to explore their creative side in our summer program. Over the course of a 3-day program, kids will discover different forms of artistic expression in a dynamic group setting.

Session 1(“Me, Myself, and I”): 4-7 year olds
July 10, 12, 13            10am - 2pm

How can art tell stories about who we are or where we’ve been? Using their own lives as inspiration, kids will create painted postcards, bring the letters in their name to life, and create a self portrait.

Session 2 “Experimenting with expression”: 8-10 year olds
July 17, 19, 20            10am - 2pm

This session draws inspiration from portraits, still life, and Horoufiyah in Mathaf’s collection. After seeing how artists express one subject in many ways, kids will experiment with different techniques to find their own way to express what they see.

Session 3 “the museum: inside-out”: 12-14 year olds
July 24, 26, 27            10am - 2pm

What makes a good artist? Why do museums make exhibitions? These are questions that kids will debate and respond to by creating artworks and writings. By playing the role of an artist and critic, teens will work together and display the results of their explorations in a final exhibition.
