Introduction
The history of restoration dates back to 1972 when one of the big houses (old palace) was restored to be developed as Qatar National Museum after executing restoration works to the palace to be exploited as a national museum that exhibits the history and tradition of Qatar.
The purpose of restoring Qatar Heritage is to:
Maintain the style of those buildings and the beautiful architectural and decorative elements it contain.
Develop those buildings as cultural centers and museums which represent the social life of Qatar before the discovery of oil.
Develop those buildings for tourism to allow tourists to see the traditions and the social life style before the discovery of oil.
There are specific artistic standards for selecting archeological buildings to be restored.
